Freeman Lumber is among the oldest family-run sawmills in North America. The business has operated mills in Greenfield, Nova Scotia, for almost 200 years.
Recently, Freeman had undergone a rebranding exercise. In 2025 the business was ready to apply finishing touches. The mandate was to create a clear and friendly symbol and typography to work with the new layouts and colour palette.

Visual Communication Source created a tree symbol to be used across a board range of pieces. The goal was to have something clear and visible from a distance. Freeman wanted their people in field to be easily identifiable.
Once the symbol was established, several pieces were designed including staff apparel, stationary, banners and other material.
